How to Choose a Question Bank for a School or Coaching Platform

Be clear about what the questions are for

Practice after a lesson, chapter tests, full mock exams and adaptive revision all need different things. Practice needs many questions per topic with full explanations. Tests need a balanced spread of difficulty. Adaptive systems need every question tagged by topic and difficulty. Decide which you are building first; it changes what "good" looks like.

Check coverage and depth per chapter

Ask for counts per chapter, not just a headline total. A chapter with five questions cannot support practice and a test. Check the chapters students struggle with most, and check that questions test understanding, not just recall of definitions.

Read the explanations, not just the answers

An answer key tells a student they were wrong. An explanation tells them why. Read solutions for a sample of hard questions and check that the reasoning is complete and correct, including units and diagrams. Weak explanations are the most common problem in licensed question banks.

Make sure it maps to your lessons and syllabus

Questions should be tagged to the same chapters as your video lessons, so a student can move from a wrong answer straight to the lesson that explains it. Ask which textbook edition the questions follow and how chapters removed from the current syllabus are handled.

Ask for the file format before you sign

Find out how the questions are supplied (for example as spreadsheets, documents or a structured export) and whether that imports cleanly into your LMS or app. Test an import with a sample chapter, including questions with images and formulas, before committing.

Check the rights

Confirm that you may brand the questions, use them in tests you sell, and edit or extend them. Check whether you may resell the question bank itself to other companies; most licences do not allow that without consent.

Our question bank, briefly

Edupotion's library includes 7,125+ MCQs with solutions for Class 6 to 12 Maths and Science, mapped chapter by chapter to the same chapters as the video lessons and licensed with the library on a one-time licence. Details: CBSE question bank licensing.

Quick answers

How many questions per chapter does a platform need?

Enough to support both practice and at least one test without repeating questions. Check counts per chapter rather than the overall total.

What matters most in a licensed question bank?

Complete, correct explanations and clean mapping to your lessons and syllabus. Answer keys alone do not help students learn.

Can I edit licensed questions?

Check your licence. Many allow branding and use in your own tests; editing and resale terms vary by supplier.
